2012 Changes:

Well following a successful 2011 for a number of students, we want to make 2012 even more successful for others.

The first big change is obviously, Medowie has closed down, so all our focus is drawn to the success of the Terrace club. We've also got to hope that Burt get his club in Maitland up and running. We've also finaly set in concrete the Black Belt requirements up to and including 3rd Dan. So now you can all see what's in store for you over the next few years or for as long as you wish to continue with the club.

We've made a few minor changes to the grading requirements. These are documented below:

  • Prop Foot Drop - moved from Green to Orange Belt
  • Shoulder Grab Defence - new - added to Orange Belt
  • Winding Throw - moved from Blue to Green Belt
  • Scooping Throw - moved from Blue to Green Belt
  • Straight Arm Bar - moved from Orange to Green Belt
  • Bent Arm Bar - moved from Orange to Green Belt
  • Pistol Defence - moved from Green to Blue Belt
  • Bottle & Baseball Bat Defence - deleted
  • Minimum time in belt - added to Purple Belt and up
  • Ground Defence Locks and Positioning - new - added to Brown Belt
  • Tanbo Sparring - new - added to Brown Belt
  • All Balck Belt requirements added from Shodan Ho, up to 3rd Dan

Gardings will be held on the first Saturday morning of each school holiday, not every 12 weeks like last year. This means we will have four gradings per year again, as well as the Black Belt grading and seminar in November as before. Gradings may also be held at Irrawang High and not at Medowie. This is still under investigation so stay tuned.

First training day for 2012:

For those wishing to join or just come along for a look, training starts at 6:30pm at Irrawang High School. Just come along for a look (no need to book). If you like what you see and want to give it a try, your first lesson is free and we give you a month to decide if you wish to join or not; no pressure. Training is in a relaxed, non threatening environment.
